Mattias Ekstrom Memimpin Ford di Dakar 2026
Mattias Ekstrom menjadi pembalap terdepan dalam etape kedua Reli Dakar 2026, dengan rekan setimnya Nani Roma berhasil memperkecil jarak poin dari Nasser Al-Attiyah dalam klasemen keseluruhan. Sementara itu, harapan kemenangan Toyota menguap setelah Henk Lategan mundur dari persaingan.
Dalam perjalanan sejauh 346 km dari Bisha ke Al-Henakiyah, para pembalap Ford menguasai papan peringkat etape. Ekstrom memimpin di semua pos pemeriksaan utama, sehingga meraih kemenangan etape keduanya dalam acara ini, ditambah kemenangan di Prolog.
Ekstrom memenangi etape dengan selisih 1 menit 22 detik dari rekan setim Ford, Romain Dumas, sementara pembalap Raptor lainnya, Carlos Sainz Sr, melengkapi tiga besar, tertinggal 2 menit 26 detik dari pemenang.

Perkembangan utama dalam aksi hari itu adalah mundurnya Henk Lategan dari persaingan. Pembalap asal Afrika Selatan ini sebelumnya berada di posisi kedua secara keseluruhan dan menjadi penantang utama Al-Attiyah. Sayangnya, masalah menerpa pada kilometer ke-140, yang menghentikannya selama 1 jam 40 menit sebelum ia dapat melanjutkan perjalanan.
Waktu yang hilang secara efektif mengakhiri harapan Toyota untuk merebut titel, karena tidak ada pembalapnya yang masuk dalam tujuh besar klasemen keseluruhan. Di etape tersebut, Joao Ferreira berhasil finis keempat untuk Toyota mewakili tim Afrika Selatan, dengan rekan setimnya Seth Quintero di posisi kelima di depan Guillaume de Mevius (X-raid Mini).

Dengan penurunan posisi Lategan, Roma kini memimpin perburuan Al-Attiyah di klasemen keseluruhan, dengan pembalap Ford tersebut memperkecil selisih menjadi 8 menit 40 detik di puncak klasemen.
Loeb dari Dacia naik ke posisi ketiga secara keseluruhan, dengan selisih hampir tiga menit dari pemenang etape Ekstrom yang naik ke posisi keempat. Pembalap Ford lainnya, Sainz, tetap dalam persaingan, meskipun tertinggal hampir 29 menit dari pemimpin.
Pemenang Etape 10, Mathieu Serradori, melonjak ke posisi keenam secara keseluruhan untuk Century, di depan pembalap Dacia lainnya, Lucas Moraes, sementara tiga Toyota melengkapi 10 besar klasemen keseluruhan: Toby Price, Varaiawa, dan Botterill.
